Since Senran Kagura has been stolen from me, I decided I’ll give some love to a manga I’ve been wanting to do for a very long time. I think I expect too much when all I would want from the group that stole the SK would be to at least contact me, just that. (Not that you can check on MU how often does a group release, too.) I have email at desposal here in the About, plus there is always the comments space…
I am but one person so competing with a group of numerous individuals would have no meaning. Simultaneous releasing is stupid, unless there is a very big difference in the quality.
Instead I’m going to be mature (although I did leave foul comment back at their blog but it hasn’t even been put out for the world to see for whatever reason) and do another project that really was dead unlike SK.
DL: DF
You can still get the old chapters at Vagrant Scans.
With that I hope you do enjoy this release.
Mayo Chiki! vol. 4
Oh yea.So many days was hoping for someone to pick up.THX!
Sometimes you just gotta be the bigger person.
Thanks for picking this project back up – it’s been far too long since the last release!
ty for the release but did you really ahd t choose http://depositfiles.com ? :(
Well it does make a few little pennies that I see as a motivation, I’m not going to lie about that. Do you have trouble downloading it? If it’s not available in your country contact me through mail.
awesome too see this series picked back up thanks for the release :D
I admire your decision, it was the smart thing to do.
Additionally there’s the fact that I’d given up hope on seeing this scanned anytime soon.
Good luck to you.
Thank you, I actually contacted a member of Vagrant Scans way back when I was still starting scanlating but never got to it till now. I hope you’ll bear my slow releases though. ^^
There is no “stealing” of projects. If one group doesn’t release in a timely fashion, another group should come along and take over the project.
This is pirating, not a business, there are no rules.
You have an opinion, so do I. Rules are rules, morality or being respectful is another thing. I had a project taken over because the individual asked for it. I do a joint on another one because the other group asked me nicely and was willing to do it as a joint.
Rescanlating a project with just thinking “it’s dropped” is stupidity. What is the timely fashion? I scanlate because I want to, in my free time. Now I can see that investing my time into the previous releases of SK was a waste of time. I didn’t even get to be said thank you to “for introducing us this manga”. Would any other re-scanlating group know about any manga prior to one group doing some work for it? Those who have morale at least ask or tell the other group about their plan. Without prior information, this, for me is stealing. They did it silently, stealthily, I do call this stealing.
I never said anything about this being a business for me, sure the few pennies I generate over long period of time does increase my motivation, I’m not going to lie.
The group doesn’t even publish comments it doesn’t like, what am I to think of that? They’re up for business, not me.
Interesting pick for a new series… As for that other group, I have mixed feelings towards them. Sure they do a nice job and all, but they’re a bit dickish. The first chap of their main series (Yankano) had one spread that wasn’t joined (little detail) but when I left a comment pointing it out, they didn’t even publish my comment (I mean seriously, what’s so bad about someone pointing out one small thing you missed? I wasn’t even asking them to redraw that page. Hiding the truth like that is just stupid.)
Exactly, I admit my comment was foul but why not publish it. I had comments here pointing my mistakes, and even if I get mad that I had them in the first place, I appreciate them. It’s also good to know that it wasn’t just me. Thank you.
You wanna know what;s even more ironic? If the NJMANGA in the other group is the same NJMANGA that acts as a raw provider for several groups, then it’s an even bigger dick move. From what I hear, he tends to get really mad if a group makes the mistake of forgetting to credit him (even if by accident), so him not being willing to see people point out his own flaws is really hypocritical.
I think that’s him, he mentioned it there somewhere in the comments, could be mistaken though. I make mistakes. Heh, it really is so, I do think that your comment could only have been beneficial. When I don’t join pages (redrawing) I at least mention I was lazy. ^^
schoolmate is already translated up to chapter 17 in spanish here:

Thanks a million for picking up this series! :D
Have you guys ever considered that maybe the other group, didnt publish negative comments as a point to not spread negativity. Why would a group publish negative comments, as to what instigate the negativity, to make you feel better, honestly guys you guys expect to much from a group in terms of supporting negative that is ridiculous in itself. In terms of them stealing you were over 90 days and if I remember scanlating rules from when I scanlated in my old group, its 90 days max, after that a group doesn’t have to ask permission to take a series, its the responsibility of the original group to keep the releases steady and current. They have no responsibility to request permission for a group for all intents and purposes was dead since February, Im playing devils advocate. If you don’t want to be viewed as dead keep up with your releases and keep current, in scanlating a 3 month no release period is basically your dead, there is no excuse because of real life, so really why complain to satisfy your ego, for real, this is not about stealing its about satisfying your ego and as well guilt for not keeping current, if you have scanlating experience than you should know if you don’t keep current a group will take your series. Also who said that group is profiting, deposit files doenst pay no more, and I dont see ads, so where are they profiting. Wouldn’t it be better to not complain and just focus on keeping your own releases current instead of thinking can i joint or have group bow to me for permission. Are you seriously expecting any group to bow to you for permission when you failed to maintain your releases current. How old are you seriously, no group bows to any group, in the end of the day its about the fans, not the groups but the fans who love and appreciate series. You got a complex its about the fans nothing more when you start expecting praise than your in for a bad slide down that mountain you built. Its about fun I think everyone starts scanlating for fun and love of a series, its not about who and what its about the fans, and fans should not be forced to wait 6 months or however long for a release, is that fair to them?
Just sharing honest opinions, because even though you say your dropping the issue, you have these rants, if your mad than keep current with your other releases, stop giving them away and acting like king of the mountain, if you mad keep current with your releases and show the fans your not dead
Hurr durr.
It’s about the fans, huh? I find that really interesting that someone could say something like that in a scene like this. I don’t know about you broski, but I’ve done nothing to deserve to have people translate anything like this for me.
I’m extremely grateful for it, obviously, but I’m certainly not entitled to it or anything. I’m just a modest fan who likes to leave a few kind words behind in the comments every now and again to show my appreciation… precisely because I’m not entitled to receiving the gracious releases so many groups put out for little to no profit.
When there’s a long hiatus, maybe it’s okay to not ask when you want to pick up something someone else was doing. Maybe it’s not. But it would still be common courtesy to ask regardless. When you don’t show common courtesy, aren’t you supporting negative behavior as a result? The answer seems to me to be obviously yes. Maybe Sim-chan shouldn’t have left a negative comment regardless, but all she wanted was some courtesy and consideration, and she didn’t receive it. I would be upset too.
Furthermore, I don’t like this idea that a group would censor comments they don’t like. They’re just hiding the truth that someone was upset with them in order to maintain their own image. Look back up at Damon’s comment earlier. They hid the truth on one small thing (not joining a page) that he commented on. Why would they censor that? Seems silly, doesn’t it? I highly doubt Damon’s comment about this was phrased in a negative way. Rather than trying to stem negativity, it’s simply pointless censorship.
Also, this is an adult community. In case you hadn’t noticed, there’s plenty of porn flying around. (Great porn, too.) We shouldn’t exactly need anyone holding our hand and telling us bedtime stories and hiding us from ‘negativity’. We’re adults here, and we should be able to handle the truth of the world, without censorship. A negative comment on a group’s site will probably bring the person who wrote the comment under fire anyway rather than the group. After all, most people going there would be fans of the group. Makes censoring the comment even sillier.
Anyway, I’m sorry for the huge wall of text, but I just had to share some honest opinions, you know?
Thanks as always Sim-chan!!
Honestly I didn’t even know there were scanlating rules. What are they? When were they set up, who made and decided on them? Was there a vote? Etc.
hehe: If you ever come back here, I am going to bitch about it if I want to, I just wanted some courtesy, as UGA said. Before I picked up Schoolmate, at least a year ago or more I actually contacted the Vagrant Scans’ translator if it was okay to do it although they were long dead, I still did it.
I don’t appreciate someone making claims that I’d dropped it. I did not remember making any real life excuses for me. I really slow because I do so. It’s not like I didn’t release anything.
Thanks for the support, UGA, as always. :)
No problem, I’m just calling the truth as I see it :D Either way, the fact that he called you out on ‘scanlating rules’ is the thing I forgot to mention in my wall of text. I mean, people have tried to set up such rules, but they don’t really exist, so it’s pretty silly of him to talk as if they are some sort of law of the world.
Also, it’s your blog, and you have every right to complain or talk about whatever you want to. This is the internet, after all. Just like that other group has the right to censor the comments on their site even if it’s shady, you have the right to bitch whether it bothers people or not.
Anyway, happy to support you, and I hope this discussion is just about done lol. I’ll still speak my mind on it if I feel the need though. ;)
Azuma Yuki needs more love!
You have my support guys! thanks for continuing Azuma-sensei works! stay classy guys ;)
